Your father held a gun

To his head

And blew his brains

Out of this world

Because breathing

Felt like a chore

And he never liked cleaning

I know you think

You lost your heart

And that it is with him

Six feet under the soil

Trapped in a coffin

But your heart

Is in your chest

You can feel it beating

Like a wild animal

When we kiss

And I know you miss him

Wish you were

Down there with him

At one with the earth

But you are up here

With the rest of us

Barely surviving

Just know

He loved you

And if he could resurrect

From the dead

To tell you that

He would
