Springsteen

I lay on my bed

Listening to Bruce Springsteen’s

I’m on fire

Smoking my cigarettes

As I watch the sunlight

From my window

And the smoke dance

Together to the song

Forgetting the world

For a split second

Forgetting the heart ache

The anxiety

The bills

The deadlines

The loneliness

The music hovering

Over my skin

Because

I do not need

A warm body next to me

Or shared laughter

Or a phone call

To give me goose bumps
