Alone

There’s a certain kind of dignity to being alone

Most people cannot do it

And jump from relationship to relationship

As if it’s as easy as transferring train lines

And two broken people cannot make a whole

No matter how hard they try

The pieces will always be too jagged and will not fit

It’s like trying to put a puzzle together with pieces missing

Don’t get me wrong

I crave connection like nicotine some nights

But I can watch a sunset on my own

And wake up in the morning

With my legs and arms stretched

Taking up the entire bed
